3D: Yinka Shonibare

YINKSHONIBARE

  • Yinka Shonibare (born 1962), is a British-Nigerian artist living in London.
  • His work explores cultural identity,colonialism and post-colonialism
  •  contemporary context of globalisation
  •  his art is the brightly coloured Dutch wax fabric he uses.
  •  he has a physical disability that paralyses one side of his body, Shonibare uses assistants to make works under his direction.
I really like his hair accesorie, I think it suits him

I don't understand the pugs and the no head lady, I do wonder why he enjoy head less art.
this image reminds me of Mr.Fox a movie about foxe's. I love the idea of half animal and half human, it seems very violent though I don't like the gun. ------------------------>>>>

I do have to say that this image is very, ummm... HOT.  It's beautiful honestly! I think emily dugan would also enjoy this.

Ernst Ludwig Kirchner

  • German Painter and Print-maker

  • Movements: One of the founder of Die

  • Brucke (The Bridge), Expressionism

  • born: may 6,1880- Aschaffenburg, Bavaria
  • volunteered in the army in the first world war
  • he was discharged because of a breakdown

  • Died: June 15,1938-he committed suicide by gunshot near Davos Switzerland

  • The human figure was central to Kirchner's art.
  • captured models posing as well as aspects of his bohemian life.
  • over 600 or more of his work were sold or destroyed

I really liked this artist because at first I looked at his paintings and I judged him too early, the pictures that came up first were only of naked ladies and I'm all about embracing female body or just naked bodies, but the way he painted them somehow made me uncomfortable, but then I found more of his landscaping work and I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of my tiny village in Guatemala. The big mountains and little houses in the middle of the valleys. As I read his biography it made me really sad, it sounds like he went through a lot and I could relate to him in a different way but I can still feel his pain, it makes me so sad that the artist who are just brilliant are somehow not happy and always end up committing suicide I wish he hadn't done that.

Blick auf Davos (1924)

Artwork description & Analysis: After being discharged from the military, Kirchner took refuge in Davos, where the Alps surrounding his home provided a new kind of bucolic inspiration. The painting depicts a cool mountain range embracing a small town, a pictorial sigh of relief following the end of World War I. Inspired by van Gogh's landscape paintings and the work of the Fauvists, Kirchner used pulsating shades of violet, blue, green, and yellow to depict the rural scene. The swooping perspective is similar to Kirchner's early paintings of urban life.

Deutsch: Nollendorfplatz (1912)

Artwork description & Analysis: Deutsch: Nollendorfplatz reveals Kirchner's shift in subject matter from the female nude to depictions of the metropolis. Here, the perspective is skewed, a clear rejection of his previous study of architecture. The quick, gestural use of line creates a sense of immediacy and speed within the piece, capturing the essence of a busy German city. The use of clashing blues and yellows to depict the cityscape is typical of Kirchner's style during the Die Brucke years, though the distorted imagery of the city may also have been inspired by an exhibition of Italian Futurist art that he saw in the year that this was painted.

Rest In Peace

"A painter paints the appearance of things, not their objective correctness, in fact he creates new appearances of things."

3D MASKS

I kinda like this mask, but its really creepy because of how realistic it looks. But I do like how detailed it is because I really like the lips and the nose.

I love the details! and the colors, I like that they used paint to make this mask look awesome and I like the roses it makes it more 3D

the creepy thing about this mask is that you can see the three faces, I think this is so creative because of the different angles and how it plays with your eyes.

Awesome! so much talent I think you must have a lot of patience to do this mask, this mask looks like it requires a little bit of math to get perfect crease, it reminds me of orogamy.

I have the same point of view on this like the picture above.

the cool thing about this is how the details are off to the side and not only on the mask but on the side and top and bottom.

its cute, its not really 3D I think it would look better if it was more 3D

I like how they captured the face expression, I don't know if it would work as a mask, because the lips are to wide.

Self Portraits

The thing I like about this portrait is the fact that it reminds me of my niece, the reason why is because my niece uses the Technics that this portrait has. fast crazy lines it seems like it was done in less that 5 minute and it looks like they used  markers.

I like this portrait because of the cross hatching, I've never done any cross hatching because I haven't learned that Technic. my goal is to try and learn it.

The color in this one is crazy! and amazing, there is a lot of funky colors it really attracts my eye. this can catch your attention i also like the different contrast of the colors. I also like that they left the eyes very simple.

The thing I like about this one is the texture, they look like text tiles and in a way it looks 3D, if you look closely you can kind of see it specially the hair.

I like that there is the actual photo of the drawing and how it slowly gets smaller.

I really like this portrait because it looks very realistic. the details are amazing, my favorite part of the paiting is the wrinkles, because it shows a lot of that person without words, you can tell that he is old.

I really like the bubbles that are in this painting, it add textures and style. I have a friend who did something similar she took a pencil and used the eraser as her paint brush.

The reason I like this one is because I love Frida Kahlo she is one of my inspiration, her story is very interesting and her style is very simple, but detailed.

I enjoy the colors that are focused on his front cheeks. I also like that just like the one on the bottom the artist focused with mostly a few colors.

the thing i like about this one is the two main colors the blue and yellow and where they are. it seems like half of the face is blue and half is yellow.

                    MICHAEL LANDY

I think that Michael Landy is a really strange artist. I don't understand his artistic style. it's a little bit confusing, his art performance didn't really excite me at all, its just throwing art in a bucket and having people look at it, and maybe thats the whole point, but it's not my cup of tea. I was actually a little sad, because I saw so many amazing art work that were thrown away that someone could probably recycle it for something else. What I actually enjoyed about his work is that they throw away the art that they "failed" at making, its like moving on from the past and can starting over with a new canvas, it's like taking a big baggage from your chest. other than that I didn't really like it,but in the video it seemed like he had a lot of people excited about the art bin. i didn't really enjoy his art, but then again as an artist m myself I know that there are people who don't like my art or understand it, art is abstract, if you enjoy it and makes you happy then go for it people are not supposed to understand every single thing.

This is a picture of how it looks after throwing all the arts inside this huge bin, If I remember correctly Michael Landy said he likes how the items fall into each other.

<------- I really like this art of Michael Landy, I think it's beautiful it reminds me of angels. I like the vintage look to it, it also looks like a statue that has been slowly chipped away in the face.

                                       -------->
I feel like some people, like catholics might get offended of this drawing. Only strict catholics though. because I'm Catholic and I'm defiantly not offended, well just a little bit, but I understand that it's art

Frank Stella (born May 12, 1936) is an American painter and printmaker, noted for his work in the areas of minimalism and post-painterly abstraction. Stella lives and works in New York.

Frank Stella Biography
I like this painting of Frank Stella, because I love all the bright colors that he tends to work with. This painting reminds me of the windows you'd find at a church. Frank Stella likes to create abstract art, but I think this one is not completely abstract, you can see the patterns and shapes he has created. It has rhythm and flow it comes perfect together.
I honestly dislike this 3D art of Frank Stella, because it reminds me of snakes, a bunch of snakes!!!!! One of my biggest fear in the world are snakes, I hate them so much they are ugly and disgusting. That is the reason I dont like this specific art.
